In Croatia, Bako families are predominantly Croats (from Labin area ), rarely Slovaks (from Backa, Vojvodina ), and very rarely Hungarians (from Beli Manastir area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Backa, Vojvodina and in Dubrovnik.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Bako live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Ilok (15), Rijeka (10), Dubravka in Dubrovnik area (10), Susnjevica in Labin area (<10), and in Detkovac in Virovitica area (<10).
