Bakić families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Novigrada , less frequently Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Split. In Gizdavac in Sinj area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Bakić.
Prevalence
About 1100 people with faimily name Bakić live in Croatia today, in 520 households. There were 1100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 62 cities and 87 other places, mostly in Zagreb (170), Split (150), Kosute in Sinj area (65), Paljuv in Novigrad Area in Dalmatia (60), and in Rijeka (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over a hundred times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
