Bahnik families are mainly Czechs and they are mostly from Daruvar area , but often Croats (also from Daruvar area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pakrac and in Daruvar area.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Bahnik live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Daruvar (15), Golubinjak in Daruvar area (15), Pakrac (15), Rijeka (<10), and in Ivanic-Grad (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
