Bagarić families are Croats and they are mostly from southwestern Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area) and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Laktasi area). In Mesihovina in Western Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Bagarić.
Prevalence
About 1400 people with faimily name Bagarić live in Croatia today, in 540 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 65 cities and 100 other places, mostly in Zagreb (345), Makarska (75), Cepin in Osijek area (65), Podstrana in Solin area (65), and in Vinkovci (45).

In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1721 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
