Anđal families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Daruvar area , often Hungarians (from Beli Manastir area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and in Daruvar area.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Anđal live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Kapelica (15), Bilje in Osijek area (10), Zmajevac in Beli Manastir area (10), and in Hercegovac in Garesnica area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
