Antonić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Skradin , less frequently Serbs. According to some sources they are from Kljuc (Bosnia) or they are Bunjevci (Croats in Vojvodina). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Rijeka. In Budimlić Japra in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every sixth inhabitant had the family name Antonić.
Prevalence
About 480 people with faimily name Antonić live in Croatia today, in 230 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 44 cities and 50 other places, mostly in Zagreb (145), Bribir in Novi Vinodolski area (65), Rijeka (45), Pula (15), and in Sisak (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
