Aleksić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Podrinje (Bosnia), often Serbs, very rarely Montenegrins. According to some sources they are from Ljutomera (Slovenija, Štajerska). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Drnis. In Gorići in Otocac nearly every inhabitant had the family name Aleksić.
Prevalence
About 1200 people with faimily name Aleksić live in Croatia today, in 550 households. There were 1100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 70 cities and 121 other places, mostly in Zagreb (145), Sibenik (70), Rijeka (70), Osijek (35), and in Pozega (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
