In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Srijem, Vojvodina and in Bjelovar. In Duga Međa in Orahovica area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Adamec.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Adamec live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Bjelovar (<10), Vinkovci (<10), Rijeka (<10), and in Samobor (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
