Abramović families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Glina area. According to some sources they are from Gorskog Kotara or Poland, very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Rijeka. In Velika Vranovina in Glina area every third inhabitant had the family name Abramović.
Prevalence
About 2200 people with faimily name Abramović live in Croatia today, in 910 households. There were 2000 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 79 cities and 243 other places, mostly in Zagreb (315), Rijeka (120), Velika Vranovina in Glina area (70), Posavski Podgajci in Zupanja area (70), in Slavonski Brod (45) and in Bosnian Posavina.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1736 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
