In Croatia, Žohar families are almost entirely Croats (from Klanjec area ), very rarely Slovenes (from Zagreb ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Koprivnica and Krizevci. In Vujići Vojakovački in Krizevci every fifth inhabitant had the family name Žohar.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Žohar live in Croatia today, in 17 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Krizevci (<5), Nemetin (<5), Cakovec (<5), and in Novi Bosnjani (<5).
