Đukanović families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Vinkovci area , also Croats (Banja Luka area, Bosnia), very rarely Montenegrins. According to some sources the family name originates from Ozren area in Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vinkovci area and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area).
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Đukanović live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 16 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Markusica in Vinkovci area (20), Bjelovar (<10), Osijek (<10), and in Cepin in Osijek area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
