In Croatia, Šarutan families are Croats (from Sveti Ivan Zelina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Krizevci and Sveti Ivan Zelina. In Pavlovec Ravenski in Krizevci every ninth inhabitant had the family name Šarutan.
Prevalence
About 10 people with faimily name Šarutan live in Croatia today, in three households only. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in only five Croatian places: in Vukovje Zelinsko (<10), Mali Raven (<10), Donja Zelina (<5), Bukovec Zelinski (<5), and in Paukovec (<5).
