In Croatia, Čanžar families are almost entirely Croats (from Klanjec area ), barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Lepoglava and Varazdin. In Kamenica in Lepoglava every seventh inhabitant had the family name Čanžar.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Čanžar live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located and 8 other Croatian places, mostly in Osijek (10), Kamenica (10), Rozga in Klanjec area (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Lepoglava (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
