Zimić families are Croats and they are mostly from Oroslavje. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Oroslavje. In Purtići in Podrinje (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Zimić.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Zimić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Varazdin (10), Andrasevec (10), Oroslavje (10), and in Zapresic (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
