In Croatia, Zakić families are Croats by relative majority (from Bosnian Krajina ), less frequently Serbs, and very rarely Slovenes. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Bosanska Dubica area) and in Kosovo. In Jasenje in Bosnian Krajina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Zakić.
Prevalence
About 10 people with faimily name Zakić live in Croatia today, in 6 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in only five naselja i to in Ploce (<5), Banova Jaruga (<5), Porec (<5), Crikvenica (<5), and in Pomperovec in Zlatar area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
