Vulić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Benkovac area. According to some sources they are from Poljica near Omis, rarely Serbs from Sinj area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zadar. In Zakučac in Omis every second inhabitant had the family name Vulić.
Prevalence
About 1600 people with faimily name Vulić live in Croatia today, in 690 households. There were 890 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 64 cities and 122 other places, mostly in Split (210), Zagreb (185), Zadar (125), Rijeka (70), and in Nasice (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1705 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
