Vučetić families are predominantly Croats. The surname Vučetić originates from Brinj. It is an old noble family known since the 17th century. In a smaller number, Vučetić can be Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Senj area and in Nin area.

About 1000 people with faimily name Vučetić live in Croatia today, in 480 households. There were 1400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 56 cities and 85 other places, mostly in Vir in Nin area (145), Zagreb (135), Hvar on the Island of Hvar (85), Rijeka (75), and in Split (50).
