Volarić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Krk (Vrbnik). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Zagreb. In Donji Desinec in Jastrebarsko every seventh inhabitant had the family name Volarić.
Prevalence
About 740 people with faimily name Volarić live in Croatia today, in 320 households. There were 740 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 38 cities and 75 other places, mostly in Zagreb (100), Vrbnik on the Island of Krk (90), Rijeka (85), Karlovac (50), and in Krc (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
