Violić families are Croats and they are mostly from Dubrovnik area and Peljesac Peninsula , where they immigrated according to some sources from middle Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and Split.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Violić live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Dubrovnik (35), Potomje on the Peljesac peninsula (25), Osojnik (20), Zaton (20), and in Kuna Peljeska on the Peljesac peninsula (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
