Višnjić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Varazdin area. According to some sources they are from Bosnia, less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sibenik and Cakovec. In Danilo Biranj in Sibenik every sixth inhabitant had the family name Višnjić.
Prevalence
About 690 people with faimily name Višnjić live in Croatia today, in 300 households. There were 530 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 68 other places, mostly in Zagreb (90), Sibenik (80), Cakovec (55), Karlovac (35), and in Varazdin (35).
Outside Croatia
Family name Višnjić (including: Visnjic , Visnjich ) is present in four countries on two continents. The family name "Visnjic " is used by some 100 people in the United States and about 80 in Germany.
