Višnić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Ogulin , whereas often Croats (from Prelog ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ogulin and Rijeka. In places Popovo Selo and Gornje Dubrave in Ogulin every sixth inhabitant had the family name Višnić.
Prevalence
About 280 people with faimily name Višnić live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 460 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 25 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Rijeka (55), Zagreb (50), Ogulin (35), Karlovac (30), and in Prelog (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
