Ursić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Makarska area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Makarska area and in Split. In Gornja Brela in Makarska area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Ursić.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Ursić live in Croatia today, in 160 households. There were 330 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 24 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Split (105), Brela in Makarska area (65), Selca on the Island of Brac (40), Makarska (35), and in Vrbanja in Zupanja area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
