Tovernić families are Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Lepoglava area and in Zagreb. In Brestovec Orehovički in Lepoglava area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Tovernić.
Prevalence
About 170 people with faimily name Tovernić live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), in Brestovec Orehovicki (25) and Bedekovcina (15) in Lepoglava area, Ciglenica Zagorska in Zabok area (10), and in Tisina Erdedska in Sisak area (<10).

Family name Tovernić is present in three countries on three continents.
