About 850 people with faimily name Tkalčec live in Croatia today, in 340 households. There were 930 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 30 cities and 101 other places, mostly in Cakovec (140), Zagreb (80), Varazdin (40), Turcin in Varazdin area (30), and in Virje in Djurdjevac area (30).
