Surina families are Croats and they are mostly from Opatija area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and in Opatija area. In Pasjak in Opatija area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Surina.

About 100 people with faimily name Surina live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent.
They are located in two Croatian counties and 12 other places, mostly in Rijeka (30), Sapjane in Opatija area (25), Opatija (<10), Pasjak in Opatija area (<10), and in Viskovo in Rijeka area (<10).
