Subić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , whereas often Croats. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Gradacac area) and in Pozega. In Samarevac in Bosanian Posavina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Subić.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Subić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Valpovo (<10), in Brsadin (<10) and Borovo (<10) in Vukovar area, Naselje Stjepana Radica (<10), and in Zagreb (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
