Stokić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Lipik , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Lipik and in Doboj, Bosnia (Doboj area). In Bukovčani in Lipik every fourth inhabitant had the family name Stokić.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Stokić live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Lipik (20), Resetari in Nova Gradiska area (15), Pula (10), Zagreb (10), and in Pakrac (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
