In Croatia, Stjepančević families are generally Croats (from Western Bosnia ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Western Bosnia (Drvar area).
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Stjepančević live in Croatia today, in 10 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located and four other Croatian places, mostly in Zagreb (<10), Sesvete (<10), Pozega (<5), Veliki Grdjevac in Grubisno Polje area (<5), and in Ciglenik in Orahovica area (<5).

Family name Stjepančević is present in three countries on two continents.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
