In Croatia, Stjepan families are predominantly Croats (from Garesnica ), rarely Czechs (from Daruvar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Garesnica and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 10 people with faimily name Stjepan live in Croatia today, in five households only. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and two other places, mostly in Daruvar (<5), Zagreb (<5), Velika Gorica (<5), Satnica Djakovacka in Djakovo area (<5), and in Domankus in Bjelovar area (<5).

Family name Stjepan is present in 9 countries on three continents. "Stiepan " is used by small number of people in Austria and small number in the United States.
