Sterpin families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Pazin area , less frequently Italians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Rijeka.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Sterpin live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in two Croatian counties and four other places, mostly in Rijeka (30), Pula (20), Kastav (<5), Nerezine on the Island of Losinj (<5), and in Valtura in Pula area (<5).
