Stanojević families can be both Croats (the family name originates from the Island of Vis ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Serbia and in Rijeka.
Prevalence
About 520 people with faimily name Stanojević live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 48 cities and 58 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Split (55), Rijeka (45), Sisak (25), and in Vukovar (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
