Sokolić families are Croats and they are mostly from Zlatar area. According to some sources they are from Herzegovina and Novog Vinodolskog. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Rijeka. In Velika Petrovagorska in Zlatar area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Sokolić.
Prevalence
About 710 people with faimily name Sokolić live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 870 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 84 other places, mostly in Zagreb (165), Novi Vinodolski (70), Rijeka (55), Velika Veternicka in Lepoglava area (35), and in Krizevci (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
