Slijepčević families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Pakrac. According to some sources they are from Tomasanci near Djakovo, often Serbs, very rarely Bosniaks (Bosnian Krajina). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Glina. In Hrtić in Hrvatska Kostajnica area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Slijepčević.
Prevalence
About 410 people with faimily name Slijepčević live in Croatia today, in 200 households. There were 600 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 55 other places, mostly in Zagreb (100), Hrtic in Hrvatska Kostajnica area (25), Sisak (20), Vukovar (15), and in Slavonski Brod (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
