In Croatia, Skalić families are mainly Croats (from the Island of Korcule ), less frequently Bosniaks (from Middle Bosnia ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bihac area).
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Skalić live in Croatia today, in 7 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in threee Croatian counties and another small place , mostly in Split (<10), Zagreb (<10), Vranjic (<5), Sinj (<5), and in Vela Luka on the Island of Korcula (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
