Simonović families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Janjevo , Kosovo, also Serbs, very rarely Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Kosovo and in Janjevo, Kosovo. In Bužinija in Novigrad nearly every inhabitant had the family name Simonović.
Prevalence
About 250 people with faimily name Simonović live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 30 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Gabos in Vinkovci area (20), Vocin in Slatina area (20), Djulovac in Daruvar area (15), and in Ceralije in Slatina area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
