Silić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Korcula , barely Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Split. In Račišće on the Island of Korcula every seventh inhabitant had the family name Silić.
Prevalence
About 520 people with faimily name Silić live in Croatia today, in 230 households. There were 440 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 46 other places, mostly in Racisce on the Island of Korcula (85), Prisoje in Sinj area (65), Split (55), Rijeka (50), and in Zagreb (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
