Sakić families are generally Croats and they are mostly from Benkovac , rarely Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Benkovac and in Herzegovina (Mostar area). In Gornji Jasenjani in Herzegovina every second inhabitant had the family name Sakić.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Sakić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Rijeka (50), Zadar (25), Zagreb (25), Biograd na moru (10), and in Velika Gorica (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
