Rupić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Sibenik , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sibenik and Zagreb. In Dubrava kod Šibenika in Sibenik every tenth inhabitant had the family name Rupić.
Prevalence
About 330 people with faimily name Rupić live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 360 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Sibenik (135), Zagreb (50), Dubrava kod Sibenika (20), Split (15), and in Srednji Mosti in Bjelovar area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
