In Croatia, Rujevčan families are almost entirely Croats (from Ozalj ), barely Slovenes (from Samobor ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ozalj and Karlovac. In Rujevo in Ozalj nearly every inhabitant had the family name Rujevčan.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Rujevčan live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 12 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Rujevo (10), Mali Erjavec (<10), Bestovje in Samobor area (<10), and in Karlovac (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
