Relić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Ozalj area , according to some sources from Senja, but often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Glina and Zagreb. In Jurkovo Selo in Ozalj area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Relić.
Prevalence
About 520 people with faimily name Relić live in Croatia today, in 260 households. There were 880 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 46 cities and 57 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Karlovac (35), Slavonski Brod (30), Osijek (20), and in Slatina (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
