Ratković families are often Croats and they are mostly from Varazdinske Toplice , less frequently Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Sinj area. In Škarnik in Varazdinske Toplice every second inhabitant had the family name Ratković.
Prevalence
About 1200 people with faimily name Ratković live in Croatia today, in 540 households. There were 1500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 64 cities and 115 other places, mostly in Zagreb (195), Split (95), Skarnik (55), Varazdinske Toplice (40), and in Slavonski Brod (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
