Rajčić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Drnis area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Drnis area. In places Nevest and Unešić in Drnis area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Rajčić.
Prevalence
About 880 people with faimily name Rajčić live in Croatia today, in 360 households. There were 610 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 32 cities and 38 other places, mostly in Split (345), Kastel Stari (75), Zagreb (75), Unesic in Drnis area (55), and in Sibenik (50).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
