Pleša families are Croats and they are mostly from Gospic area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Gospic area and in Zagreb. In Ramljani in Otocac every fifth inhabitant had the family name Pleša.
Prevalence
About 1400 people with faimily name Pleša live in Croatia today, in 580 households. There were 1200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 59 cities and 158 other places, mostly in Zagreb (285), Rijeka (45), Belisce (40), Otocac (35), and in Virovitica (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
