Pleš families are Croats and they are mostly from Slunj. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slunj and Zagreb. In places Čamerovac and Gornji Lađevac in Slunj every ninth inhabitant had the family name Pleš.
Prevalence
About 220 people with faimily name Pleš live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 28 other places, mostly in Karlovac (35), Zagreb (35), Camerovac (15), Sesvete (15), and in Luka (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over seventy times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
