Plavljanić families can be both Croats (the family name originates from Petrinja ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Petrinja and Sisak. In Jošavica in Petrinja every sixth inhabitant had the family name Plavljanić.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Plavljanić live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Petrinja (15), Sisak (10), Split (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Cakovec (<10).
