Pivčević families are Croats and they are mostly from Omis. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Omis. In Gata in Omis every eighth inhabitant had the family name Pivčević.
Prevalence
About 260 people with faimily name Pivčević live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Split (80), Gata (45), Jesenice in Omis area (40), Omis (30), and in Naklice (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1842 in source Catholic Church Parish Records 1842.
