Petričić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Opatija area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and Rijeka. In Sase in Podrinje (Bosnia) every third inhabitant had the family name Petričić.
Prevalence
About 340 people with faimily name Petričić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 450 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 29 other places, mostly in Zadar (45), Ivankovo in Vinkovci area (35), Rijeka (30), Zagreb (30), and in Vinkovci (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
