Peranić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Pag. According to some sources sa otoka Raba. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Pag and in Rijeka. In places Stara Novalja and Novalja on the Island of Pag every eighth inhabitant had the family name Peranić.
Prevalence
About 450 people with faimily name Peranić live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 390 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Stara Novalja on the Island of Pag (135), Rijeka (80), Zagreb (50), Novalja on the Island of Pag (40), and in Kraljevica (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1734 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
