Pešić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Vodice , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vodice and Split. In Čista Velika in Vodice every fourth inhabitant had the family name Pešić.
Prevalence
About 680 people with faimily name Pešić live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 310 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 43 cities and 45 other places, mostly in Zagreb (115), Biograd na moru (105), Cista Velika (90), Omis (80), and in Sibenik (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
