In Croatia, Peći families are generally Croats (from Pozega ), very rarely Hungarians (from Daruvar area ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pozega and in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Tuzla area). In Kuzmica in Pleternica every fourtieth inhabitant had the family name Peći.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Peći live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and four other places, mostly in Pozega (15), Osijek (<5), Govedje Polje in Daruvar area (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Vinkovci (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
